Waynetown - Oct 5 -- Mrs. Hester Simms, highly respected resident of Waynetown succumbed at her home here Friday afternoon following a year's illness from parlysis. Mrs. Simms' death occurred at 4:30 o'clock. Mrs. Simms was born December 30, 1853, the daughter of John and Susan Green Widener, and had lived in and near Waynetown practically all her life. She was a member of the Waynetown Methodist Church. January 1884, she married Wiliam Simms who died in 1896. The survivors are one daughter, Mrs. Pressley Shaw of Crawfordsville a son, Herbert Simms of Chicago; a stepson Harry Simms of Schneider, Ind; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Margaret Thomas of Waynetown and Mrs. Lena Cade of Veedersburg; two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Utterback of New Richmond and Sarah Widener of Muncie; a stepbrother, James L. Widener of Los Angeles. The remains will be taken to the Waynetown Methodist Church at 1:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon where friends may pay their respects. The casket will be closed at 2 o'clock at which time funeral services will be held. Burial at Waynetown.
